Demonstration Resilience Garden
It’s spring! That means things will soon be “buzzing” in the Resilient Garden installed on Town Hall property in front of the library. Biweekly maintenance sessions will begin in May, alternating between Tuesday and Saturday mornings between 9 and 11. At the end of each session, co-stewards Lynne Seacord, Cindy Pierce and Ann Brouilette will linger for “Ask the Gardener” sessions, public Q&A sessions focusing on selection and maintenance of native plants. Click HERE for plant information and web resources.
Other planned educational events include a children’s library section with pollinator-friendly books, stewards’ lunch with seniors at the Peck Center, and representation at Audubon’s spring event on April 26 and Barrington’s Art Fair on June 1.
We’d love your help! To be part of the fun, use the link below to register to volunteer. If you’ve previously registered, you will be contacted by Cindy Elder of the Barrington Land Trust with links to sign up for specific maintenance sessions.
The project was developed in partnership with volunteers from various organizations including the Barrington Garden Club, the Barrington Land Conservation Trust, the Barrington Public Library, the Peck Center, the Barrington Resilience and Energy Committee, the Barrington Open Space Committee, the Barrington Pollinator Pathway Committee, and young leaders from Barrington. Funding for the project comes from a People's Garden Grant provided by the Eastern Rhode Island Conservation District.
